Why two languages

Your network may speak English. Most of Rotterdam searches in Dutch.

Your first clients often come from your own circle: colleagues from the port, the Erasmus campus or an international school. To grow, you also need Dutch customers, and they often search in Dutch.

A bilingual website helps with that. Think of:

English pages for clients who don’t speak Dutch (yet)
Dutch pages for people who search for ‘fysio Kralingen’ or ‘kapper Rotterdam’
a language switch at the top of every page
a contact or booking form that works in both languages
one Google Business Profile that points to both versions of your site

Some things have to be in Dutch anyway.

Dutch law asks you to show your KvK number on your website. Your business description at the KvK is in Dutch too. We make sure your legal details, terms and privacy statement are clear in both languages.

Rotterdam, district by district

Website design that names the parts of Rotterdam where your clients live.

Rotterdam feels like a group of small towns. People search close to home, so your website should mention the districts that matter to you. A few examples:

01

Kralingen and the Erasmus campus

Erasmus University’s Woudestein campus is in Kralingen. Students and staff from abroad live nearby, so English often comes first here.

02

Kop van Zuid and Katendrecht

New apartments along the river, popular with young internationals. A good spot for studios, salons and practices that want a modern, bilingual image.

03

Hillegersberg and the north

A green residential area with international schools nearby. Families here look for a dentist, a physio or a hairdresser they can talk to in English.

04

City centre and around

Around Rotterdam Centraal you find offices, coworking spaces and start-ups. Consultants and freelancers often work here for clients across the region.

Prefer to read this in Dutch, or share it with a Dutch partner? See the Dutch version of this page. Working in the other big city nearby? Read website design in The Hague.

How people search

Two languages, two sets of search terms.

Expats tend to search in English. Locals use Dutch, often with a district name. Your site can answer both:

“English speaking physiotherapist Rotterdam”
“hairdresser Kralingen”
“tandarts Hillegersberg”
“business coach Rotterdam”
“schoonheidssalon Kop van Zuid”

You don’t need a separate page for every district.

What matters is that your address, district and service area are clear on your site. We use the same name, address and phone number as in your Google Business Profile, so Google can link the two.

Who we build for

Ready-made set-ups for service businesses.

Rotterdam has a large international workforce, from port and logistics to healthcare around Erasmus MC. Many people start their own business here. We build websites for, for example:

freelancers and consultants (zzp’ers)
physiotherapists and other healthcare practices
psychologists and therapists
coaches and trainers
hair and beauty salons
translators and language teachers
advisers in tax, law or finance
builders and installers

Each sector has its own set-up, with pages that fit the work. See all sectors on our sector overview (in Dutch), for example physiotherapists, coaches, hair salons or consultants.

How it works

From first call to live website, fully remote.

1

Introduction

By phone or video call, in English if you like. You tell us what you do, who your clients are and which languages you need.

2

Choose a set-up

We pick the set-up that fits your work, such as a practice, a salon or an adviser. We also agree on the languages. Every language costs the same: €79 a month per language version.

3

You send your content

Your texts, photos, logo and prices. Only have them in one language? We discuss how to handle the other one.

4

We build and check

We apply your branding and fill the pages. The site only goes live once you approve it.

5

Live and looked after

We keep hosting, updates, security and backups up to date. Want a change? Just email us.

All steps are explained in more detail on our process page (in Dutch).

Our proof

We run our own businesses on the same platform.

BeBusy is based in Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel, just east of Rotterdam. The owner runs his own sharpening businesses from there. Their websites, including German-language ones, run on the same system as yours:

Dutch Dental Instruments
KappersscharenSlijpen.nl
Veterinary Sharpening
De Messenslijperij
FriseurscherenSchleifen.de (in German)

See what we built on our cases page (in Dutch). We don’t have Rotterdam client cases to show yet, and we won’t pretend we do.
